Sustainism: It's Got a Name, Now Do it


Sustainism is a term that has come to mean the way we design and build with the environment in mind. The upside is that with technology new opportunities for sustainable design are increasing. What makes this an uncertain practice however is that a set of standards has not yet been adopted. It is a change in thinking and will take time to develop.

Engine Makers Sue to Block E15 Fuel

While we are in dyer need of energy efficiency, it seems the auto industry isn't all that ready to make the switch. Although they have known for years that ethanol was going to be making its way into the gasoline we use, they still insisted on pitching pennies and using cheap parts that would not perform well with more ethanol. And if ethanol made from corn is the problem, then why couldnt sugar cane based fuel be used?

Polar Scientists Discuss Polar Bear’s Fate



I wonder what more than the rapid decline of polar bear habitat, increased numbers of polar bear fatality due to starvation does it take for the species to be labeled as more than "threatened." Its not always easy to distinguish fact from propaganda, especially when both the right and left always seem to have their bases loaded with answers. But to me the fate of a species which plays such a important part in the chain of life needs to moved past politics, and is something an undivided human race should be aware of.
